MEDIATE YOUR LIFE: Resolving Conflicts Internally

A life changes one conversation at a time. When you change your life, the world changes. The first conversation to have is with yourself.

To be truly at ease with yourself and with those around you is transformative. The first step is to approach every conflict – whether internal or external – as an opportunity. The Mediate Your Life Resolving Conflicts Internally intensive is a 4-day training that integrates Compassionate Communication (Nonviolent Communication/NVC), mindfulness, and a mediation framework to help you learn to negotiate conflicts within, whether they are with another person or between warring parts of yourself.

The full Choosing Peace Immersion Program consists of three 4-day intensives. These intensives are particularly powerful and transformative when done as a year program of three intensives, with partner practice in between. However, they are designed so that they can be taken individually as stand-alone trainings or as a package of two intensives, and in any order:

– Reconciliation and Healing training: Apr 19-22, 2018

Peace, connection, happiness and fulfillment are learnable skills.

Perhaps you need to prepare yourself to have that difficult conversation with another person. Perhaps you’ve had an upsetting conversation and want to process and recover from it. Or perhaps you want to reconcile the different parts of yourself that are in conflict.

In the Resolving Conflicts Internally workshop, you will learn to use a mediation framework to facilitate these conflicts internally. By shifting into a “mediator mind,” you will metaphorically move into the third “mediator” chair to witness different parts of yourself, or imagine a conversation between yourself and another person, and thus be present, mindful and able to respond and act in ways you feel good about afterwards.

Advocate for yourself with yourself.

If you’ve ever experienced intrusive thoughts of guilt or shame, or found yourself judging or “beating yourself up,” then you know that banishing these thoughts doesn’t work.

We all have aspects of ourselves that sabotage our best intentions. If these internal “voices,” which are quite often judgmental, cause you to feel “stuck” and conflicted about reaching your goals, then Resolving Conflicts Internally is for you.

Negotiate peace with yourself. Create the life you want.

We teach you to mediate between these different parts of yourself until they collaborate to find a shared sense of connection. The goal of this training is not only to find internal relief, peace and ease- but to also discover clarity about what action to take.

Real skills for real transformation. Four days that will change your life.

In this workshop, you will learn:

A mediation “map” for transforming within yourself “enemy images” of others (sometimes of the people closest to us!). The process gives the ability to provide within yourself empathic understanding and connection for yourself and for the other person, and from this discover creative new possibilities for taking effective, compassionate action, including preparing to have a difficult conversation
A map for transforming self-judgment, particularly around having difficult conversations, into self-understanding, appreciation, and positive learning
A map for generating deeper self-compassion when you are caught in harsher self-criticism, and from this finding new strategies and agreements with yourself to better create the life and relationships you want
A map for mediating between “warring” parts of yourself and finding clarity and inner alignment when caught in internal conflict, angst, or confusion over a decision to make or a direction to move in
The training is highly experiential and interactive in a warm, supportive, safe learning environment. You learn through real life demonstrations, in-depth practice in dyads and triads, supportive coaching, giving and receiving positive peer feedback, and group sharing. There is the opportunity, if you wish, to work with real situations from your personal and work life, so you not only gain deep skill development, you also benefit from the personal growth and transformation. You also become part of a connected learning community, both during the workshop and after, so you can practice together to deepen and integrate the learning over time in your daily life, and receive invaluable support to respond to the challenges in your life.
